The Horses

Maratt – (2014 Grey Gelding By – Martaline / Out Of – Lavi) – Maratt will continue for the club next year, he remains an exciting prospect for the future and is progressing with every run of late. He has been schooling over both fences and hurdles recently and has really taken to the larger obstacles. He will continue hurdling in his races and progress to chasing in time.

-Tarks Hills – (2015 Bay Filly By- Brian Boru / Out of – Risky May) We will have another new young 3yo store horse joining the ranks, as with the wonderfully named INSPIREUS last year, the club have named the new horse.. She is a half-sister to our good bumper winning horse Manhattan Spring and has been pleasing us at home up the gallops and over hurdles. A nice prospect.

Given Name – (2015 Bay Gelding By – Nathaniel / Out of- Poly Pomona) – We have a young juvenile hurdler coming from the flat to join us this year. He came to us from a very well respected recommendation, from Richard Hannon’s Everleigh yard as horse far more suited to hurdling. He has shown a great aptitude in jumping while here at Wilsford, and seems to thoroughly enjoy our training style. We have quite a lot of success with this format of racehorse, Romanor, Nelson’s Touch, Landin, She’s Gina to name just a recent few.

Racing manager- Brett Stevens is still your initial contact. He will supply all members with email updates regarding your horses and Club Share Certificates etc. Entry and ticket information will be supplied by our racing secretary, Steph Tooze. Please refer all correspondence ref ticket requests, SMRC gallop mornings and any general questions to our email which will be picked up by one of the SMRC team.

Monthly racing club yard visit- We will be hosting a regular SMRC morning on the gallops where your horses will be exercised with as many of you present as possible; attendance is very much encouraged. This is your opportunity to come to the yard to see your horses and get the inside knowledge of what’s happening. Please do take the opportunity to bring anyone who has expressed an interest in SMRC to these mornings, we will hopefully make them feel right at home.

Ticket allocation- As with previous years every member will be entitled to a personal Owners and Trainers badge every time a SMRC horse runs. We can usually organise additional badges at cost, should you wish to bring along a friend/ partner or introduce people to the racing club.

Events- As usual we will be holding a SMRC summer BBQ for all members. It is usually a great occasion with many attending and lots of fun and general information for racing club members.

Our annual open day is the starting point and an important SMRC day
