Manhattan Spring aka “Parkey” raced 8 times under rules, winning his bumper on debut in December 2015 under Andrew Thornton at Lingfield. That was his only win but he also had a couple of seconds before injuring a tendon in June 2018. It was decided that Parkey wouldn’t race again but after the right rehabilitation he would make a super riding horse so the search for a home began. Tanya and Jaime came to see Parkey and fell in love with him and were willing to give him the time he needed to recover so in July 2018 we waved him goodbye!
Following the time off that he needed Parkey came back into light work in September 2018 and slowly increased his workload until he was happily cantering mid 2019. Parkey came back for our Open Day in November 2019 so everyone could see his progress.
Jaime and Parkey started going out doing local Intro dressage tests gaining some good marks and encouraging comments.
Jaime has been graded 4 for para dressage and is receiving training from para dressage coach, Rob Trowbridge. Their aim was to be competing in Grade 4 para tests by this summer, but that will now have to be extended, with the Para Olympics being the ultimate goal!! I think this story goes to show how versatile an ex-racehorse can be. Good luck Tanya, Jaime and Parkey and we hope you achieve your ultimate goal!
