Wilsford stables has a long history of success at Plumpton. On Monday this week, this wonderful little course nestled in the South Downs in East Sussex has brought us another great day.
We saddled three runners, in three quite different races. A maiden hurdle, a handicap chase and a national hunt flat race (bumper).
The day started with progress more than success. FURTHER NORTH ran a far improved effort in comparison to his debut, also at Plumpton last month where he showed his lack of experience. This time jumping and travelling well for 2miles before weakening and being rightly pulled up by Kevin Jones. He will come on hugely for the experience, he is one to watch out for next year when he is another year older and stronger.
Next up we ran I SEE YOU WELL for owner Mr Albert Goodman. He is a horse that really shines when he is well, and can disappoint when not fully on point. Yesterday was his day and he ran an exceptional race, jumping with precision on the whole and looking to be the winner with over a circuit to go. Apart from the scare he gave us all at the last, it was a rather striking and emphatic 6 length win. With Daniel Sansom on board looked completely composed and confident throughout, and he thankfully sat tight when needed, ensured the partnership was maintained and the prize landed. Congratulations to all connections.
We’ve had a lovely young chaser in the making under our wing for a while. MORODER is not a flashy man at home, but when it comes to galloping on turf he has shone in his racecourse gallops and now continued this trend when running a lovely race to finish a very good and clear second behind what looks to be a championship level filly of Harry Fry’s. He is for sale in the yard as we really think a lot of this talented young man!
