Schooling the Bustards

Schooling over fences this morning brought a very rare surprise. Chris Baldwin (Owner of Arthington) spotted what was initially thought to be geese flighting into the large down-land field adjacent to our schooling facilities. With a closer look through a set of binoculars made it clear that we had a lovely flock of 7 Great Bustard’s. These very rare bird that were extinct in this country until reintroduction on the nearby Salisbury Plain. There are elusive and very shy, and quickly made a getaway when we tried to get a little closer.

Sadly the only photography equipment to hand was a trusty IPhone camera. But i promise they are Bustards in the flesh
