In search of Magnolia cup glory

We have many work riders and friends of Wilsford that ride for us, but one is a little different. Dr Camilla (Millie) Hickish has been coming to us for the past few weeks, she is preparing for a very special challenge – A ride in the Magnolia Cup.

“On Thursday 2 August 2018, twelve inspirational ladies will burst through the stalls and race across the course in a flash of beautiful, colourful, bespoke silks. They may not be professional jockeys, some of them may not have even sat on a horse in their lives – prior to a few months ago – but their resilience and determination will shine through in support of Cancer Research UK.

This renowned charity event invites riders who are the leading women of business, sport, fashion, medicine and media, to take part in the opening race of Ladies’ Day, at one of the most exciting and glamorous horseracing events in the world.”  Ref-Goodwood.com

Dr Camilla Hickish rides in the 2018 Magnolia Cup

“I started radiotherapy at the same time as my GCSEs. I did ten in total and finished my last exam on the same day as my last radiotherapy session.” Camilla was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma when she was 15. Now, she’s just qualified as a doctor and she’s taking part in the Magnolia Cup at Goodwood Racecourse this summer to raise money for our life-saving research.
